Our Story

We’re a family-run Canadian company of dog lovers, outdoor explorers and lifelong adventurers. With over 20 years of hands-on experience working with dogs and a strong background in health, fitness and nutrition, we understand what it takes to help them thrive—both on the trail and at home.

We started Khyber’s with a simple belief: dogs deserve the same standard of clean, purposeful nutrition we expect for ourselves.

What you feed your dog matters, and every bite should serve a purpose. Working alongside the University of British Columbia’s Food Science team, we spent a year developing and refining our first recipes and rethinking what performance pet nutrition could look like.

That process led us to create something entirely different: cold-pressed mini nutrition bars for dogs—a new approach that uses minimal processing rather than conventional baking, dehydrating or freeze-drying. Through food science and an innovative cold-pressing process, we created Canada’s first raw, fresh, shelf-stable dog treats made from 100% recognizable whole-food ingredients—without relying on artificial preservatives.

Dogs are athletes too. Whether they’re running up a mountain, spending a day at the beach or strolling through the neighbourhood, they deserve real, purposeful nutrition.

We also saw problems in the traditional pet-treat aisle that weren’t being adequately addressed. Food sensitivities, animal-protein allergies and digestive issues are increasingly important concerns for pet parents, while many conventional treats rely heavily on animal proteins, fillers, preservatives and intensive processing.

We saw an opportunity to do things differently.

Our Trail Bites are made from plant-based, naturally low-allergen ingredients, with fibre from real fruits, vegetables and other whole foods. They offer a simple alternative for pet parents looking to reduce common dietary triggers or introduce more plant-based fibre into their dog’s diet.

Choosing plant-forward ingredients also lets us think beyond the dog in front of us. By reducing reliance on animal proteins and prioritizing minimally processed, naturally derived ingredients, we can create products that are better suited to modern pet nutrition while being more thoughtful about the resources required to produce them.

Innovation Through Simplicity

For us, innovation doesn’t mean adding more. Sometimes it means finding a better way to do more with less.

Our cold-pressing process allows us to create something fundamentally different: soft, nutrient-dense mini bars without the high-heat processing traditionally associated with baked treats. By combining food science, novel processing and carefully selected whole-food ingredients, we’ve created a new approach to pet treats while keeping our ingredient panels remarkably simple.

But our vision goes beyond treats. We’re building Khyber’s as a performance pet nutrition innovation company—harnessing the power of real food to create cleaner, functional products that support pets from the inside out.

That philosophy extends across our entire line, from our sulfate-free single-ingredient fruit and veggie snacks to our Whole Body Performance supplements, registered through Health Canada’s Veterinary Health Products program.

Our supplements use recognizable, naturally derived ingredients chosen for a purpose—from kelp, chlorella (fresh water algae) and parsley for daily dental support to flaxseed, pumpkin, carrots and blueberries for digestive health. No unnecessary fillers, artificial preservatives or complicated ingredient lists—just purposeful whole-food nutrition designed to support healthier, happier pets.

Today, Khyber’s has grown from our family kitchen into Canadian manufacturing and retail distribution, but our purpose hasn’t changed: to challenge the conventions of pet nutrition through cleaner ingredients, smarter processing and naturally derived solutions for healthier pets and a healthier planet.
